The Paraeducator, as a member of the instructional team, works under the supervision of the highly qualified classroom teacher and the principal. This person assists in implementing instruction and related services. Such assistance may include providing instructional assistance, guiding additional practice opportunities, re-teaching, and monitoring behavior.Main Responsibilities:Under supervision of a highly qualified Teacher, the Paraprofessional willImplement school and district policies and proceduresEstablish and maintain working relations with colleaguesParticipate in planning sessions with the classroom teacherDemonstrate creativity, flexibility, and perseverance in dealing with challenging learning, behavior, family, and classroom situationsProvide strategic instruction within the classroom for students who need support learning core curriculumProvide support and supervision of students as assigned (during transitions, in special classes, during lunch, on the playground, etc.)Assist in the administration and scoring of assessments used in monitoring individual progressAssist with paperwork and clerical duties as neededAny other duties/tasks as assigned by the building administrationLifting/Transitioning students to specialized equipmentDelegated duties from Nursing staffQualifications:Has obtained a HS diploma or GED andCompleted two years of full-time study at an institution of higher education equal to or greater than 48 semester hours, ORObtained an associate degree, ORPassed the WorkKeys assessments for reading, writing and mathematicsANDDemonstrates the ability to work effectively under the direction of othersDemonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with othersDemonstrates a willingness to assume all responsibilities assigned which are appropriate for the positionPhysical Demands:The work is mostly walking and standing with periods of sitting.
