Job Summary
The purpose of this job is to provide functional instructional and behavioral support to students with disabilities as assigned by the teacher in the classroom.
Essential Duties
- Assist students with disabilities by working with small groups to reinforce material initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assist students with disabilities in matters pertaining to compliance with behavior intervention plans or medical needs at school and/or during school bus transportation to and from home and on school sponsored study trips.
- Assist students with disabilities in matters of personal tasks such as mobility skills, personal hygiene, and self-help skills.
- Participate in in-service training programs as needed.
- Assist teachers by locating, preparing, and organizing instructional materials.
- Guide independent study enrichment work and remedial work set up by the teacher.
- Assist students with mobility, toileting, feeding, and communicating.
- Perform related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prefer some experience working with disabled children.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state drivers license with an acceptable driving history.
