The East Troy Community School District is a Great Place to Learn and a Great Place to Work! We are currently hiring a full-time Special Education Paraprofessional at East Troy Middle School. This position is full-time and works 36.25 hours per week. The schedule is 7:35 am to 3:20 pm, Monday through Friday.

Applicants must have documentation of completion of a minimum of 2 years (48 semester credit hours) of post-secondary education from an accredited higher education institution or equivalent or be willing to complete an online training program.

  • BONUS INCENTIVE* Our Special Education Paraprofessionals will be included in a BONUS PROGRAM which includes the following incentives:
  • New hire bonus of $500 after the new employee successfully completes 90 school days after initial hire with no unapproved absences
  • SPED Paraprofessionals can qualify to receive a quarterly bonus (3 quarters), for each quarter of employment in which at most 1 (one) total sick day or docked day is used, a $50 bonus will be issued up to $150 annually
  • An end-of-year bonus of $500 after the employee successfully completes a full school year
  • Return to work bonus of $500 for employees who qualified for the end-of-year bonus in the previous school year and successfully complete employment through October 31st of the current year

Paraprofessionals are essential team members. Responsibilities of Special Education Paraprofessionals within the District may include:

  • Implementing and providing accommodations and modifications developed by students' IEP teams as instructed by case managers/special education teachers
  • Supporting instructional curriculum and adaptations
  • Implementing and collecting data regarding Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as designed by case managers/special education teachers, school counselors, or psychologists
  • Recognizing and encouraging opportunities for social, behavioral and academic independence for students with disabilities
  • Assisting in data collection related to student academic, behavioral & social/emotional progress and IEP goals
  • Providing feedback to teachers and administrators regarding student performance and behavior to assist in the development of Individual Education Plans and access to the general education curriculum and environment for students with disabilities
  • Utilizing Non-Violent Crisis Intervention strategies and practices at all times when working directly with students, including seeking productive means to resolve conflicts
  • Demonstrating adaptability and flexibility with respect to assignments, schedules and all other paraprofessional duties
  • Ensuring the educational environment (classrooms, restrooms, playground, hallways, etc.) is conducive to the provision of needed environmental accommodations, modifications and supports for students with disabilities
  • Assisting students in the use of adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, Physical and Occupational Therapy equipment) as prescribed by appropriate professional (school nurse, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist)
  • Ensuring proper use, care and functioning of special education materials, resources and adaptive equipment
  • Demonstrating dependability, good attendance, punctuality and productive use of time during working hours
  • Interacting in a professional manner at all times with parents, community members and other stakeholders when directed by special education teacher/case manager or administrator
  • Assisting students in the set up and use of assistive and instructional technology (computers and computer programs, iPads, Assistive and Augmentative Communication devices, etc.)
  • Demonstrating accountability to the special education teacher(s)/case managers, supervisors and administrators
  • Performing all other duties or special projects as assigned by special education teacher and/or administrators
