Reports To: Intensive Services Teacher(s), Building Principal, and/or Director of Special Education

Job Summary: The Special Education Paraprofessional will play a crucial role in supporting students with significant and complex needs. This position requires a dedicated, compassionate, and adaptable individual committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment and promoting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of students requiring intensive support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, individualized support to students with intensive needs, as directed by the Intensive Services Teacher and/or student''s Individualized Education Program (IEP).

• Assist with the implementation of academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions and strategies.

• Support students with daily living skills, personal care, and mobility as needed.

• Collect and record data on student progress, behavior, and intervention effectiveness.

• Facilitate student inclusion in general education settings, extracurricular activities, and community experiences as appropriate.

• Collaborate effectively with Intensive Services Teachers, general education teachers, related service providers, and other school staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.

• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment for students.

• Assist with classroom management and supervision under the direction of certified staff.

• Participate in professional development opportunities relevant to intensive services and special education best practices.

• Maintain confidentiality of all student information.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with children or adolescents, especially those with significant disabilities or intensive behavioral needs, is highly desirable.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support students with diverse learning profiles.

• Ability to follow directions and implement strategies consistently.

• Physical ability to assist students with mobility and personal care as needed.

• Successful completion of a background check.

• DPI Licensure Can Be Acquired After Employment Begins
