Position Details

Position Title: Special Education Paraprofessional

Job Summary: Litchfield Community Schools is seeking applications for a Paraprofessional for

the 2026-2027 school year. Under the direction of a certified classroom teacher provides

academic and behavioral support to students.

Wage: Starting wage is $15.73 per hour for Non-Certified or $17.73 for Certified.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide instructional support services under the direct supervision of a teacher, including

small group or one-on-one work.

Assist with classroom management, such as organizing instructional and other materials.

Conduct parental involvement activities.

Provide instructional assistance in a computer laboratory.

Provide support in a library or media center.

Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the Superintendent

or his or her designee may assign

Potential working one-on-one with students as needed

Qualification Requirements

Alternative Education and Experience

Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through passage of an approved

formal state academic assessment in the following areas:

o Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and

mathematics; or

o Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing

readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.

Education and/or Experience

Establishes and maintains productive, collaborative relationships with others.

Builds positive relationships with students, families, and the community; and

creates an environment where all individuals, regardless of background, are

comfortable.

Relates to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive and effective

disciplinary program.

Models district standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professionalism.

Applies knowledge of best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment,

and methods of supporting and extending instruction and student learning.

Maintains consistent, punctual, and regular attendance.

Self-motivated; able to accept constructive criticism and grow as a result.

Employment Date, Salary and Work Year

Anticipated start date will be as soon as possible for the 2026-2027 School Year. The

pay will be determined upon hire.
