Position Title: Special Education Program Support Teacher

Department: Special Education/Pupil Services

Reports To: Director of Pupil Services (200 day teacher contract)

Major Roles and Responsibilities

Special Education Records and Compliance

  • Review finalized Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Evaluation Reports, and eligibility documentation to ensure required documentation is complete before archiving.
  • Maintain and organize special education records in accordance with state and federal record retention requirements.
  • Archive and purge special education records according to district procedures and legal timelines.
  • Assist with special education audits, monitoring activities, and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor timelines related to evaluations, reevaluations, annual reviews, and record maintenance.
  • Prepare records for student transfers and requests from other districts or agencies.

Transportation Coordination

  • Coordinate special transportation services identified in students'' IEPs.
  • Serve as liaison between the Special Education Department, transportation providers, schools, and families.
  • Communicate transportation changes and ensure implementation of specialized transportation accommodations.
  • Maintain records of transportation requests, approvals, and service modifications.
  • Resolve transportation concerns and assist families with transportation-related questions.

Student Services Coordination

  • Support enrollment and intake processes for students receiving special education services.
  • Assist with coordination of related services and service schedules.
  • Maintain student databases and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Generate reports for state, district, and departmental needs.
  • Support Child Find and referral activities as assigned.

Family and Community Communication

  • Serve as a point of contact for families regarding transportation, records, and service coordination.
  • Provide information and assistance regarding district processes and available resources.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with parents, guardians, school personnel, and community agencies.

Departmental Operations and Administrative Support

  • Support the Director of Pupil Services with departmental operations, strategic initiatives, and project management activities.
  • Assist with scheduling, communication, and coordination of departmental meetings and trainings.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, and documentation as requested.
  • Maintain departmental calendars, timelines, and compliance tracking systems.
  • Serve as a resource to staff and families regarding special education processes and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services.
