Position Overview
CLF Consultants LLC seeks a Georgia-licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with pediatric experience to deliver IEP-driven nursing services to students with special healthcare needs ages 3 through 21 across Whitfield County School System sites in Dalton, Georgia.
The RN supports students with diabetes management, seizure protocols, gastrostomy and jejunostomy feeding, tracheostomy and ventilator care, medication administration, nebulizer treatments, blood glucose monitoring, and other complex pediatric healthcare requirements identified in 504 plans, Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHP), and Individualized Education Programs (IEP). The role joins a multi-discipline contracted team aligned with Whitfield County's Special Education department. Caseloads run approximately 55-65 students per direct-service discipline as a population-level reference; actual direct-care assignments vary substantially by student acuity. Students requiring 1:1 nursing for ventilator dependence, tracheostomy, or other medically fragile needs are assigned at lower acuity-adjusted ratios. Assignment structures are calibrated by the Whitfield County Special Education department in coordination with CLFC PMO based on each student's IHP and clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing services in accordance with each student's IEP, IHP, and 504 plan
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, district medication policy, and the Georgia Nurse Practice Act
- Manage diabetes care (blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, glucagon emergencies), seizure response, allergic reactions and anaphylaxis (EpiPen administration), gastrostomy and jejunostomy feeding, suctioning, tracheostomy and ventilator care, and other pediatric procedures as required by student IHPs
- Conduct health assessments and screenings; respond to acute health events during the school day with appropriate clinical judgment
- Produce service-delivery logs matching each student's IEP and IHP service hours, in compliance with Medicaid billing documentation standards
- Attend IEP and 504 meetings during the 8-hour school day as scheduled, contributing nursing assessment findings and IHP recommendations
Required Qualifications
- Active Georgia RN license in good standing
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Current CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Demonstrated experience providing pediatric nursing care to students ages 3-21
- Familiarity with school-based nursing standards, IEP/IHP development, and IDEA compliance

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

- Three or more years of pediatric nursing experience (school, clinic, or hospital setting)
- Prior experience as a school nurse in a Georgia K-12 district
- Documented experience managing complex pediatric cases (Type 1 diabetes, intractable seizure disorders, ventilator-dependent students, tracheostomy, gastrostomy/jejunostomy) - eligible for the medically-fragile-acuity differential
