This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Desoto Correctional Institution in the Education department.
The Bureau of Education at the Florida Department of Corrections provides comprehensive educational programs and services to inmates. Their goal is to enhance inmates academic, vocational, and life skills, thereby promoting personal development and successful reintegration into society. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university; and
Possess or be eligible to apply for a Temporary Florida Department of Corrections Educator's Certificate or if applicable a temporary State of Florida Educators Certificate.
SPECIAL NOTE: Successful applicants will be issued a Florida Department of Corrections CTE Temporary Educator's Certificate. Applicants will have 5 years to obtain the Department of Corrections Educator's Professional Certificate. A Department of Corrections Educator's Professional Certificate must be obtained prior to the expiration of the Temporary Certificate.
SPECIAL NOTE: This position requires that you pass the Exceptional Student Education (K12) Subject Area Exam with 12 months of hire.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.

The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) only hires U.S. citizens and those authorized to work in the U.S. FDC uses E-Verify to confirm an employee's eligibility to work after completing the I-9 form.
The Florida Department of Corrections does not currently support H-1B Visa Sponsorship.
