    Job Description

    New Heights Charter School is Massachusetts' only public school that involves all grades (6-12) in the Early College approach. Nearly all our 11th and 12th graders are full-time students on a college campus with younger students earning college credits at the school. You will join a committed, creative team of educators who provide academic and social-emotional support to young people coming from high-need backgrounds ensuring they are college and career ready. We support our staff with a wide array of professional development opportunities and coaching. As a teacher or staff member, you will have the opportunity to join in the development and fine tuning of our curriculum, school policies, and enrichment activities. At New Heights, we respect and honor all community members, their diverse backgrounds, knowledge, and experiences. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide Specially Designed Instruction, behavioral supports and accommodations in inclusion and pull out settings
    • Fully participate in the co-teaching model
    • Act as case manager for assigned caseload
    • Develop clear and measurable IEPs that meet the Educational Benefit Standard for assigned caseload
    • Maintain data on achievement toward IEP goals, benchmarks/objectives
    • Complete quarterly Progress Reports
    • Work with general education and special education teachers and related service providers to provide standards based, assessment driven, differentiate instruction
    • Maintain open communication with parent/guardians
    • Actively participate in Team meetings, department meetings, grade level meetings, co-planning sessions and professional development
    • Maintain proper certification
    • Adhere to all DESE regulations with a special focus on IEP timelines and implementation
    • Other duties as assigned

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Ability to develop clear and measurable IEPs meeting the Educational Benefit Standard
    • Ability to provide Specially Designed Instruction, behavioral supports and accommodations in inclusion and pull out settings
    • Ability to act as case manager for assigned caseload
    • Strong knowledge of special education, inclusion and co-teaching pedagogy and practice
    • Strong communication skills with students, fellow staff members and families
    • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development
    • Thorough knowledge of regulations for writing, implementing and monitoring IEPs
    • Experience in Team meeting participation
