    Summary

    Mount Prospect Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher for our Comprehensive Behavioral and Academic Program (CBAP). This full-time, tenure-track position is designed for an individual who is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of special education practices and be equipped to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic and behavioral growth.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student in the CBAP program.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
    • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to support students with varying abilities and learning styles.
    • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional methods and materials as needed.
    • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a positive and supportive educational experience.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEPs.
    • Provide direct instruction and support in academic subjects, life skills, and behavioral interventions.
    • Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress towards IEP goals.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and behavioral interventions.
    • Promote a positive classroom culture that encourages respect, responsibility, and a love of learning.

    Requirements

    • Valid state certification in Special Education
    • Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an elementary school setting.
    • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the needs of a diverse student population.
    • Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance student learning.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development in the field of special education.
