Mount Prospect Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher for our Comprehensive Behavioral and Academic Program (CBAP). This full-time, tenure-track position is designed for an individual who is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of special education practices and be equipped to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic and behavioral growth.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student in the CBAP program.
Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to support students with varying abilities and learning styles.
Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional methods and materials as needed.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to foster a positive and supportive educational experience.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEPs.
Provide direct instruction and support in academic subjects, life skills, and behavioral interventions.
Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and progress towards IEP goals.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and behavioral interventions.
Promote a positive classroom culture that encourages respect, responsibility, and a love of learning.
Requirements
Valid state certification in Special Education
Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an elementary school setting.
Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the needs of a diverse student population.
Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance student learning.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
