POSITION: Special Education Teacher ? Cognitive Impairment (CI)
We are currently accepting applications for potential openings beginning in the 2026/27 school year.
LOCATION: To be Determined
Plymouth-Canton is seeking to employ culturally responsive educators who will be able to support and sustain equity-focused instruction for all learners. These educators create high achieving learning environments. They identify and systematically apply differentiated instruction and assessment that improves achievement for all learners from all racial groups.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a valid Michigan teaching certificate with the Cognitive Impairment (SA) endorsement and the Elementary K-5 endorsement
Possess an endorsement to work with students who have mental impairments pursuant to Rules 340.1781, 340.1782, and 340.1786 of the Revised Administrative Rules for Special Education.
Experience with co-teaching and total inclusion of students with cognitive impairment.
Must have appropriate experience with students presenting emotional and behavioral disabilities.
Must be willing to work with general education teachers to plan, implement and organize lessons together.
Must have experience coordinating activities and schedule for classroom paraprofessional.
RELEVANT UNDERSTANDINGS AND COMPETENCIES:
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.

New hires will be required to attend a three-day orientation in August

Upon recommendation for employment, Section 1230g, as amended, of the Revised School Code requires all school employees to be electronically finger printed for the purpose of undergoing a criminal history background check.
