Job Goal: To provide a multi level system of interventions and supports for students who have a wide range
of learning, emotional, behavioral, physical and intellectual disabilities. Will teach in a collaborative effort of
various subjects, such as reading, writing, math, life skills, and social skills instruction.
Qualifications:
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction special education certification, number 1810 or 1801 in the elementary school setting
Ability to collaborate with parents, teachers, and community members in order to help students meet individual goals
Passion for teaching students with various challenges. (physical, intellectual, communication, and/or behavioral)
Must be willing to collaborate and/or act as a resource to regular education teachers
Training and/or experience in teaching social communication and appropriate expected behaviors
Must have a desire to work in a collaborative, team approach in supporting students
Willingness to incorporate interventions in classroom activities
Willingness to think creatively in instructional practices through a variety of methods to meet the individual student needs
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong planning skills
Experience with developing and writing IEPs
A desire to promote family involvement in school and community
Highly developed interpersonal skills
Experience with augmentative communication devices, Unique Learning Systems, EdMark, News2You, and adaptive equipment
Excellent classroom management skills
Support the PLC process for staff
Willingness to support student''s functional needs such as diapering, toileting, feeding, etc.
