    Position: Special Education Teacher - Early Intervention (Birth-3 Services)

    Location: Early Childhood Center

    Salary: At the appropriate step on the Salary Schedule.

    Shall possess any of the following:

    • An Early Childhood Special Education (ZS) endorsement
    • A valid Early Childhood Education (BK) endorsement
    • An endorsement in Special Education valid in grades Pre-K through 12, along with a (ZA) endorsement
    • A Bachelor's degree with a major in a specific Special Education area or have earned credit in coursework equivalent to that required for a major
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications that the administration may find appropriate and acceptable

    Job Requirements:

    • Knowledge of child development/milestones and effective parenting techniques
    • Knowledge of local, state, and federal special education laws/guidelines
    • Knowledge of various early childhood assessment tools and ability to administer them and interpret results
    • Ability to effectively engage young children and their parents and to model and teach strategies/interventions to parents
    • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary model
    • Ability to act as a liaison with outside agencies
    • Ability to maintain detailed documentation
    • Ability to structure and organize time to meet required deadlines

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Evaluate infants and toddlers birth to three years of age for eligibility for Part C/Special Education services
    • Organize and run one-hour group activities for identified Special Education students birth to three years of age
    • Schedule and engage in home visits weekly for the families of students receiving early childhood services
    • Work collaboratively with ancillary staff regarding caseload students
    • Schedule and run IEPT/IFSP meetings
    • Along with the rest of the Early Childhood team, plan and run regular parent meetings
    • Work with the Early Childhood team to facilitate transition of students when they are leaving the program.
    • Administer all required evaluations for students receiving services, e.g. entry and exit evaluations; record and submit all data within the mandated timelines

    This position is classified as Exempt

    Employment is contingent upon disclosure in accordance with PA-189.

    Ability to withstand the strains and successfully manage the responsibilities of the position.

    Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential.

    All staff members are expected to maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward one another at all times.
