SummaryWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and behavioral support for students with diverse educational needs. Working alongside a transdisciplinary team of educators and specialists, you will develop and implement standards-based instruction, foster a structured learning environment, and support students' academic, behavioral, social, and emotional growth. What You'll Do- Develop and deliver individualized instruction aligned with Illinois Learning Standards.
- Create structured unit plans and engaging daily lessons based on student needs and abilities.
- Differentiate instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Modify curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to support individual student success.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Create a safe, organized, and supportive classroom environment.
- Implement positive behavior intervention strategies while maintaining student dignity and respect.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, psychologists, administrators, and related service providers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and student planning.
- Supervise and provide instructional direction to classroom assistants.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, progress monitoring, attendance, and required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with parents, district personnel, and outside agencies.
- Participate in crisis intervention and physical restraint procedures in accordance with required training.
- Participate in professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
- Follow all policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience You'll Need- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Appropriate Illinois Professional Educator License PEL LBS1.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and evidence-based teaching practices.
- Strong classroom management and positive behavior intervention skills.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary or transdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to create and maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
