IMSA Central is a brand new expansion charter school opening in Fall 2026. As a Founding Teacher you have the opportunity to help build a school from day 1.

A Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and support to students with disabilities across a range of eligibility categories. The teacher ensures compliance with IDEA Article 7 and school policies while delivering differentiated instruction aligned with each students IEP. This role requires strong instructional planning consistent data tracking collaboration with general education teachers and clear communication with families and service providers.

Requirements

• Instructional Planning and Delivery: • Develop and implement specially designed instruction aligned to students IEP goals and state standards. • Provide direct instruction in small groups or one-on-one settings to address academic behavioral functional or social-emotional needs. • Modify curriculum materials assessments and instructional strategies to ensure access to grade-level content. • Use evidence-based interventions for reading math writing behavior and executive functioning. • Maintain daily instructional logs service minutes and IEP progress monitoring data.

• IEP Compliance & Case Management: • Develop write and update accurate compliant IEPs in accordance with Article 7 and federal IDEA requirements. • Conduct or coordinate required assessments data reviews and progress monitoring. • Hold annual IEP meetings case conferences and all required parent meetings. • Ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented consistently across all settings. • Maintain accurate timely documentation of all special education records.

• Student Support & Differentiation: • Support students with varied needs including learning disabilities autism spectrum disorder OHIADHD speech-language needs developmental delays and more. • Collaborate with related service providers SLP OT PT behavior specialists to integrate supports. • Provide behavioral interventions support plans or social skills instruction as needed. • Assist in implementing MTSSRTI strategies and identifying students who may require special education evaluation.

• Collaboration & Inclusion Support: • Work closely with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and co-teaching models. • Support teachers in implementing IEP accommodations differentiation strategies and classroom interventions. • Communicate regularly with families to discuss progress needs concerns and growth. • Participate in staff meetings case conferences professional development and school events.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education or related field. • Valid Indiana Teaching License in Special Education Mild Intervention Severe or equivalent or ability to obtain one. • Knowledge of IDEA Article 7 IEP development compliance and case management. • Experience working with students with disabilities preferred. • Strong organizational communication and problem-solving skills. • Must complete and clear all required Indiana background checks for school personnel.
