As a high school Special Education Teacher in Mundelein, Illinois, your days will include:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to high school students in grades 9-12 within a therapeutic day school setting.
- Lead a small classroom of up to 6 students with intensive support from paraprofessionals and related service staff.
- Support students with needs related to sensory processing, behavior, and communication.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) based on student needs and goals.
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, families, and school team members to support student progress.
- Create a structured, supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement, communication, independence, and success.
Job Details- Position: Contract, ASAP - June 2027
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Caseload: High school, grades 9-12; up to 6 students in a highly supported 1:1 program
- Interview: Virtual interview with a typical 24-48 hour turnaround
Successful Candidates Possess- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (required)
- Experience supporting students with sensory, behavioral, and communication needs preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and related service staff
- The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
- Note: New graduates may be considered with the appropriate Illinois licensure
