    Job Description

    The Gillett School District is seeking to hire a qualified, motivated, and innovative Special Education Teacher to become a part of the Gillett School District family. This permanent teaching position will have duties focused on supported students served by our special education department. The position is for working with high school students with disabilities. The ability to work effectively in a collaborative team, as well as establishing strong relationships with students and families is highly desired. Teachers with excellent communication skills, the ability to differentiate curriculum, and who are dedicated to improving student outcomes are encouraged to apply.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • IEP Development and Compliance
    • Instructional Adaptation- Deliver specialized, data-drivven instruction aligned with Wisconsin Essential Elements for studetns with significant needs. Utilize assistive technology, augmentative communication tools, and modified curricula to ensure equitable access to learning.
    • Life Skills, Community Integration, and Transition Programming- Cultivate self-advocacy, functional communication, social-emotional growth, and daily living skills to prepare students for meaningful communicty engagement and future independent/supported pathways.
    • Collaborative Leadership: Direct and collaborate with related services/paraprofessionals to ensure consistent delivery of accommodations and modifications. Partner with general education teachers to facilitiate educational and transition opportunities.
    • Provide monitoring and delivery of hygiene related services to students. Must be able to lift and transfer students, diaper changes, potential tube feeding, diabetic monitoring, and other health related needs with provided training. While perfoming the duties of this job, the employee by be exposed to physical hazards (e.g. pinching, scratching, biting, etc.) Resasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual to perfom the essential functions of the job.
