Special Education Teacher

Location(s): Harmony School of Advancement Houston: 3171 North Sam Houston Pkwy W, Houston, TX 77038 Caseload/Classroom size and type: 1:1 with 17-year-old male student. The student is receiving special education services and requires a high level of individualized academic and in-class support. His coursework is modified to meet his individual learning needs, and a special education teacher currently accompanies him to each class to provide guidance, reinforcement, and assistance with completing assignments and navigating classroom expectations. He would benefit from a consistent, dependable support professional who can establish a strong rapport and positive working relationship with him. The ideal candidate will be patient, confident, and encouraging, while providing appropriate structure, accountability, and redirection. Building trust and connection will be an important first step in helping the student remain engaged and make progress toward his academic and personal goals. The successful candidate should be comfortable working one-on-one with a high school-aged student, collaborating closely with the special education team and classroom teachers, and gradually encouraging greater independence while maintaining the level of support the student needs to be successful. Required Certification(s): TXSPED cert EC-12(district is still confirming if this is a requirement), Must be certified in Dyslexia & trained in reading by design required
