Requirements for the Position:
1. Proper Pennsylvania certification in a special education area
2. Minimum requirement - B.S. or B.A. degree
3. Satisfactory completion of student teaching
4. The individual's credentials are in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations governing individuals functioning in the capacity of this position.
1. Plan and deliver instruction
2. Design, implement and revise instructional programs based on student needs
3. Encourage all students to learn well
1. Teach the subjects required in the curriculum and planned course documents of the school district
2. Prepare and submit written lesson plans as a basis for the day's activities
3. Attend IST, MDT, and IEP meetings or conferences at the request of the principal or special education supervisor
4. Prepare, implement and revise student Individual Educational Plans (IEPs)
5. Coordinate related services and integration of special and regular classroom activities
6. Plan for and direct support personnel including instructional aides and volunteers
7. Maintain and report student progress, and child tracking information
8. Participate in appropriate due process procedures
9. Attend all faculty and building meetings
10. Participate in all inservice and training activities
11. Be familiar with district policies and execute said policies as may be required and in the manner required by the school's administration
12. Encourage and support parental involvement
13. Plan and initiate parent-teacher conferences when desirable
14. Contribute to the development of the annual instructional budget
15. Perform other duties assigned by the Building Principal and/or Special Education Supervisor
