As a Middle School Special Education Teacher (LBS1) in Joliet, IL, your days will include:
Providing specialized instruction and individualized support to middle school students with diverse learning needs.
Developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Adapting curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to meet each student’s academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
Tracking student progress and maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with state, federal, and school requirements.
Collaborating with general education teachers, related service providers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families.
Participating in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences.
Supporting an inclusive, structured, and positive classroom environment.
Maintaining compliance with IDEA, Illinois special education regulations, and school policies.
Position: School-based contract with the potential to renew

Assignment Dates: August 10, 2026–May 20, 2027
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday
Grade Level: Middle School
Work Arrangement: On-site
Interview Process: Virtual interview
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Special Education or a related field
An active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement
The ability to meet all Illinois requirements for employment as a Special Education Teacher
Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, progress monitoring, and special education compliance
Effective communication, collaboration, classroom-management, and organizational skills
The ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
Previous school-based experience is preferred but not required
