Position Title: Special Education Teacher
Reports to: Executive Director of Bearcat B.E.S.T
Supervises: N/A
Primary function: Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Bearcat B.E.S.T. transition program, the special education teacher will provide quality services to Bearcat B.E.S.T. program participants in the areas of functional academics, vocational training, training in the skills of independent living, and social skills. The Special Education Teacher will demonstrate a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programming, including specialized instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with other Program and College faculty and staff.
Required Qualifications:
The Special Education Teacher will possess:
Education: An earned master's degree or equivalence in special education or related field with PA Instructional Certification in Special Education and Elementary Education

Other duties: Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the Bearcat B.E.S.T. program.
Special challenges and environment: Employees are regularly required to sit, stand, kneel, bend, stoop, walk about campus, and ambulate steps. Additionally, for safety reasons, employees must be able to assist in possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment. Students will be on campus, in work settings on and off campus, and in community settings.
