West Noble School Corporation is seeking a versatile, compassionate, and highly skilled Special Education Teacher at West Noble Primary School and at West Noble High School to support students across multiple grade levels. In this role, you will design, modify, and implement individualized instructional programs that address the unique academic, emotional, behavioral, and social needs of a diverse student population. You will serve as a primary advocate for students with exceptionalities, collaborating closely with general education teachers, specialized service providers, and families to ensure an inclusive, supportive, and compliant learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- IEP Development & Compliance: Write, review, and implement legally compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), establishing measurable academic and behavioral goals based on formal and informal assessments.
- Differentiated Instruction: Adapt and differentiate general education curricula across various subject areas and grade bands, utilizing evidence-based strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, and administrators to facilitate effective inclusion, co-teaching, and accommodations.
- Progress Monitoring: Consistently collect, track, and analyze student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals, adjusting instructional interventions and accommodations as necessary.
- Behavior Management: Develop and implement Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and classroom management systems that foster a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Transition Planning (Secondary Level): Facilitate age-appropriate transition assessments and transition plans for older students to prepare them for post-secondary education, independent living, and career opportunities.
- Family & Community Engagement: Maintain open, culturally responsive communication with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of student milestones, challenges, and strategies for home support.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Licensure: Valid State Teaching Certification/License in Special Education (e.g., Mild/Moderate Interventions, K-12 Comprehensive, or equivalent).
- Knowledge Base: Strong working knowledge of federal and state special education laws (such as IDEA) and compliance procedures.
- Skills: Proficiency in utilizing assistive technologies, implementing standard accommodations, and managing diverse behavioral needs.
- Attributes: Exceptional patience, adaptability, organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset capable of bridging communication between various grade-level teams.
