Special Education Teacher – 7th Grade Instructional Reading/ELA

As a 7th Grade Special Education Teacher, your days will include:

• Provide specialized instruction to 7th-grade students within an instructional-level classroom.

• Deliver targeted Reading and ELA instruction based on students’ individual learning needs and IEP goals.

• Adapt and differentiate curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to support diverse learners.

• Implement accommodations and modifications outlined within students’ IEPs.

• Monitor student progress and use data to adjust instruction and interventions.

• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to promote student success.

• Maintain appropriate documentation and ensure compliance with IEP and special education requirements.

Job Details

• Position: Contract through the end of the school year

• Start Date: ASAP

• Hours: Approximately 12 hours per week

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 12:00 p.m.–2:30 p.m.

• Grade Level: 7th Grade

• Classroom: Instructional-level Special Education classroom

• Primary Focus: Instructional Reading/ELA in the afternoon

• Interview: Virtual

• Work Setting: On-site

• Potential Full-Time Opportunity: A full-time schedule may be available for a strong LBS1 candidate, with the possibility of serving as a floating substitute during the morning and providing Instructional Reading/ELA support in the afternoon.

Successful Candidates Possess

• An active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)

• LBS1 endorsement

• Knowledge of IEP implementation, accommodations, modifications, and differentiated instruction

• Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills

• The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
