A Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive educational setting. The teacher collaborates with students, general education teachers, families, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), adapt curriculum materials, and create an inclusive learning environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the IEP team, setting appropriate goals and objectives for students with diverse learning needs.

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities, utilizing specialized instructional techniques, accommodations, and modifications to facilitate learning and academic progress.

  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials, textbooks, and instructional resources to meet the unique needs of students with diverse learning needs, ensuring equal access to the curriculum.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to provide consultation, co-teaching, and support in implementing differentiated instruction and accommodations in inclusive classrooms.

  • Assess students'' academic progress and provide ongoing formative and summative assessments to guide instructional planning and monitor student achievement.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes a sense of belonging and supports the social-emotional development of all students.

  • Communicate and collaborate with families, sharing information about student progress, addressing concerns, and involving them in the educational process.

  • Utilize assistive technologies, adaptive equipment, and assistive communication devices to enhance learning and facilitate student participation.

  • Collaborate with related service providers, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavioral specialists, to ensure comprehensive support for students with diverse needs.
