The Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau School District is seeking a full-time Middle School Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The candidate will work in an inclusive middle school setting and be responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-based instruction to a diverse population of students, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of middle school adolescent development, a passion for inclusive education, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications: The qualified candidate must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a valid Wisconsin DPI certification #1801 Cross-Categorical Special Education. Preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting students with academic and/or behavioral needs. Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specially designed instruction and behavioral supports to students with IEPs.
  • Complete evaluations for special education and collaborate with the IEP team during the evaluation process to present results and develop recommendations for programming.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that address academic, social-emotional, and behavioral goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Utilize evidence-based interventions and trauma-informed practices to promote student success.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and adhere to Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for specific students.
  • Training or experience with de-escalation strategies and crisis intervention.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to support students, families, and colleagues.
