Special Education Teacher (LBS I) – Maternity Leave Assignment | Fall 2026

Phaxis Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher (LBS I) for a maternity leave assignment during the Fall 2026 semester. This is a wonderful opportunity to support elementary students in a self-contained autism program while working alongside a collaborative school team.

Position Details

• Position: Special Education Teacher (LBS I)

• Location: Illinois

• Assignment Dates: August 13, 2026 – November 9, 2026

• Schedule: 7 hours, 15 minutes per day, including a paid 30-minute lunch

• School Setting: Elementary School

• Classroom: Self-Contained Autism Program

• Grade Levels: 3rd–5th Grade

• Caseload: Approximately 9 students

• Interview Process: Virtual interviews available ASAP

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students with autism in a self-contained classroom setting.

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support student growth.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, behavioral, communication, and social-emotional needs of each student.

• Collaborate with related service providers, general education staff, and families to promote student success.

• Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance with state and federal special education regulations.

• Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student independence and achievement.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS I) license required.

• New graduates are encouraged to apply.

• Must be available to work onsite; virtual and hybrid candidates are not being considered.
