Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on each student's unique educational needs.

  • Deliver differentiated instruction using evidence-based teaching strategies.

  • Provide instruction within self-contained, inter-related, adaptive/alternate curriculum, autism support, or inclusive classroom settings depending on assignment.

  • Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies that promote student success.

  • Adapt curriculum materials, instructional methods, and assessments to support diverse learners.

  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, therapists, related service providers, and families.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and ongoing professional development.

  • Foster a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages academic achievement, independence, and social-emotional growth.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field preferred.

  • Active Georgia Special Education teaching certification required (or eligibility to obtain certification).

  • Experience working with students with autism, intellectual disabilities, behavioral needs, or learning disabilities preferred.

  • Knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, classroom management, and special education compliance.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment
