We are currently seeking a licensed Special Education Teacher (LBS1) to support an elementary self-contained autism classroom in the McHenry, IL area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team in a newly established classroom designed to meet the growing needs of students. Position DetailsElementary school setting (Grades 1–2) Self-contained autism classroom Approximately 8 students Supported by 3 dedicated paraprofessionals Collaborative team with related service providers Newly opened classroom due to increased student enrollment 34 hours per week Daily schedule: 8:45 AM – 4:05 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch) Full school year contract: August 17, 2026 – May 26, 2027
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide individualized instruction aligned with each student's IEP goals Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that support academic, behavioral, social, and functional growth Foster a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and school staff to support student success Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with families and multidisciplinary team members Utilize evidence-based instructional and behavior management strategies
QualificationsActive Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) endorsement required New graduates are encouraged to apply with appropriate licensure Ability to work onsite (virtual or hybrid candidates are not eligible)
