CERTIFICATION

Valid NJ Teacher Cerificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) or Standard Certificate

Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TSD) endorsement required

POSITION SUMMARY

The Bordentown Regional School District invites applications for the anticipated position of Special Education Teacher in the Multiple Disabilities (MD) setting. This position serves students with complex, overlapping disabilities that require intensive, individualized support across academic, functional, communication, and adaptive skill domains. The MD teacher designs and delivers a highly individualized program in a self-contained setting, working as the central member of a multidisciplinary team that includes related service providers, paraprofessionals, families, and the Child Study Team. The MD teacher ensures each student receives a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) consistent with their IEP, in full compliance with IDEA and NJAC 6A:14.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Responsibilities

Design and implement highly individualized, functional, and standards-aligned instruction for students with multiple disabilities in a self-contained setting

Develop and deliver programs addressing academic, functional, communication, self-care, and transition skill domains

Use a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies including task analysis, systematic instruction, and errorless learning techniques

Incorporate assistive technology, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and adaptive equipment into daily instruction

Adapt and modify curriculum, materials, and assessments to reflect each student's present levels, learning modalities, and IEP goals

Collect and analyze ongoing data to monitor student progress and inform instructional decision-making

IEP & Compliance Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, including annual goals, present levels, accommodations, and transition components as applicable

Facilitate or participate in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and reevaluations in collaboration with the Child Study Team

Maintain accurate, timely progress notes, service logs, and documentation required by state and federal law

Communicate IEP accomodations and modifications to general education teachers and related service providers

Ensure FAPE is provided in the most appropriate and least restrictive environment

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and NJAC 6A:14 as applied to students with complex, multiple disabilities

Understading of functional curriculum development and alternate assessment frameworks

Experience with or knowledge of AAC systems, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment

Ability to implement positive behavior support strategies and individualized behavioral interventions

Strong organizational skills with ability to manage caseload documentation, staff supervision

Effective collaboration skills with families, multidisciplinary teams, and paraprofessional staff

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience teaching in a self-contained MD or similar intensive special education setting in a public school

Experience with alternate achievement standards and porfolio-based alternate assessment (e.g., DLM)

Training in positive behavioral supports (PBS) or Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI)

Experience coordinating and supporting paraprofessional staff in a classroom setting

Familiarity with transition planning, community-based instruction, amd vocational skill development
