Special Education Teacher - Middle School - High School

South Plainfield School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to support and inspire students with special needs. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment, helping each student achieve their academic and personal potential through individualized educational plans and innovative teaching strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to integrate special education students into mainstream classrooms.
• Monitor and report on student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet evolving needs.
• Engage with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and success.

Salary - As per the agreement between the South Plainfield Board of Education and the South Plainfield Teachers' Unit

Other Requirements:

• New Jersey Teaching Certificate
• New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities certification
• Experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong understanding of IEP processes and implementation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate with general education teachers and support staff.
• Strong classroom management skills tailored to special education settings.
