Pathways High is a public charter high school in Milwaukee that emphasizes project-based learning and real-world experiences. We aim to develop students into engaged citizens ready for college and careers through the core elements of interdisciplinary seminars, daily advisory, independent projects, and IMPACT experiences. Summary of Position
The special education teacher at Pathways High serves as a member of the special educaiton team at Pathways High. Staff in this role work with students individually and staff to develop meaningful instruction in a project-based setting. Additionally, special education staff at Pathways High work alongside teachers to develop engaging trimester-long courses that address standards in content areas through project-based learning. While experience with project-based learning is preferred, it is not necessary for success in this position. The special education teacher will collaborate consistently with content area staff to support students in the classroom setting.
Core Responsibilities
Incorporate specially designed instruction in a project-based environment in order to meet students' individual needs;
Assessment, monitoring, and evaluation of students with disabilities;
Development of individualized education plans for students with disabilities;
Ability to collaborate meaningfully with a variety of stakeholders including other staff members, family, and the community;
Build relationships with middle and high school-aged students (grades 6 - 12);
Build relationships with staff members to create an inclusive and diverse community;
Participate in staff professional development, meetings, and other staff events as needed;
Work with middle and high school students (grades 6 - 12) using an equity-based lens and trauma-informed practices;
Supervise at lunch, before, and after school as assigned;
Other responsibilities typical of a teacher as assigned.

Compensation:
Full benefits package available with includes, medical, dental and eye care. This is a 10.5 month position with a salary negotiable depending on experience and education.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements - Bachelors Degree in Education
6-12 Content Area Wisconsin Teaching Licensure or ability to obtain
Wisconsin Charter School Teaching Licensure or ability to obtain
Preferred - Masters Degree in Education/Content Area
