Special Education Certification - Must hold a valid teaching certification in special education, with appropriate endorsements for the grade levels served.
Knowledge of IEP Development - Ability to create, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the needs of each student.
Collaboration Skills - Must work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure students' needs are met in inclusive settings.
Behavior Management - Strong skills in managing classroom behavior and implementing positive behavioral support strategies.
Adaptability - Ability to modify instructional materials and teaching techniques to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
Coteaching Skills - Ability to effectively collaborate with general education teachers in a coteaching model to support inclusive instruction and differentiate for diverse learners
Legal and Ethical Understanding - Thorough understanding of laws and regulations related to special education, including IDEA and Section 504.
