Position Details

Position: Special Education Resource Teacher

Salary: At the appropriate step on the salary schedule

Qualifications:

  • Valid Teaching Certificate with a ZG endorsement / Special Education endorsement, or willing to obtain within 2 years, required
  • Additional endorsement in Mathematics (EX), preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, students, and parents
  • Strong written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Willingness to be trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques
  • Demonstrated familiarity with community agencies, resources, and transition planning
  • Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) and Canvas LMS, preferred
  • Must be reliable and punctual with an excellent work-related attendance record
  • Ability to withstand the strain of the position
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities:

  • Provides effective individualized instruction to address the academic, social and physical needs to middle school level students with disabilities
  • Facilitate student progress toward meeting grade level mathematics standards
  • Work cooperatively with administration, multidisciplinary team, general and special education colleagues, families and agencies to provide positive behavior support for assigned students
  • Collaborate with colleagues from both the Special Education Department and Mathematics Department
  • Provide assessment, instruction, and maintain accurate records to meet quality and compliance standards established for district, state and federal rules, regulations and procedures
  • Conduct IEP's, ensure accommodations are complied with and met and IEPT timelines are attained
  • Help develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Utilize Nonviolent Crisis Intervention strategies with dealing with inappropriate behaviors
  • Such alternatives to the above responsibilities as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable

This position is classified as Exempt

Employment is contingent upon disclosure in accordance with PA-189.

Ability to withstand the strains and successfully manage the responsibilities of the position.

Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential.
