JOB LOCATION: Riverside Middle School

CERTIFICATION: DPI licensure: Cross-Categorical

PERCENTAGE: 100%

START DATE: August 24, 2026 (new teacher orientation is August 17-20, 2026)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Riverside Middle School provides special education students with comprehensive curricular programming and extra-curricular activities to meet individual student needs and interests. RMS supports inclusion and the co-teaching model. This individual will be working with 8th graders and co-teaching ELA.

Candidates should possess:

  • Appropriate DPI certification in Special Education;
  • Experience in teaching special education at the middle school level preferred;
  • Knowledge of Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and Individual Educational Plan (IEP) development;
  • Strong skill set in data analysis, social skill support, and curricular accommodations and modifications;
  • Exceptional skills in using technology/assistive technology to aid instruction;
  • Experience with Response to Intervention (RtI);
  • Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) or willing to be trained;
  • Ability to conduct, coordinate, and facilitate appropriate special education evaluations and Individual Educational Plans in a timely manner;
  • Experience in co-teaching and providing inclusive support in the regular education classroom;
  • Ability to lead, support, and manage paraprofessionals under your direction;
  • Be a collaborative team member that is energetic, compassionate, and creative.
  • Ability to work side by side with paraprofessionals to facilitate supporting students with IEP''s in general education environment.
  • Experience in AVID, or other best practice educational strategies.
  • Experience or knowledge of restorative practice to support positive behavior.
