We are seeking a dedicated and passionate
Special Education Resource Teacher to join a middle school team in Romulus, Michigan. This is an immediate-start opportunity for the remainder of the current school year, serving students in
6th, 7th, or 8th grade within a resource classroom setting.
The ideal candidate is committed to supporting students with diverse learning needs, collaborating with staff and families, and helping students achieve academic and behavioral success.
Responsibilities
Provide direct special education instruction to middle school students in a resource setting.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure student accommodations and modifications are appropriately implemented.
Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals.
Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Maintain accurate compliance documentation and student records.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, administrators, and support staff.
Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Support students in developing academic, organizational, and self-advocacy skills.
Qualifications
Valid Michigan teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement.
Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
Experience working with middle school students preferred.
Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements.
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a middle school resource classroom.
Experience with progress monitoring and data-driven instruction.
Familiarity with co-teaching and inclusive practices.
Experience supporting students with a variety of learning, behavioral, and emotional needs.
