The teacher creates a positive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, and the development of skills necessary for continued success while maintaining strong partnerships with families, colleagues, and support staff. QualificationsValid New Jersey Instructional Certificate with appropriate Special Education endorsement or eligibility.Knowledge of educational technology and the ability to integrate appropriate technology into instruction.Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Required criminal history background check and proof of United States citizenship or legal Performance ResponsibilitiesProvide instruction to students in accordance with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and learning experiences that address individual student needs.Provide individualized, small-group, resource, inclusive, and/or other instructional support as assigned.Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that promote a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.Monitor, document, and maintain records of student academic progress.Establish appropriate instructional objectives and use effective teaching strategies to support student achievement.Provide home instruction to eligible students when assigned. IEP Implementation & CollaborationCollaborate with general education teachers to coordinate instruction, monitor student progress, and provide appropriate supports.Consult and collaborate with Child Study Team members regarding student educational programs, academic progress, and personal growth.Participate in required meetings with case managers, families, and other professional staff to review and revise students' IEPs and educational placements.Participate in the development and implementation of district special education programs and initiatives. Family & School CommunityCommunicate effectively with families regarding school programs, student progress, and educational needs.Utilize appropriate school and community resources to enhance student learning and support.Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings, committees, and other district or school-based activities. Professional ResponsibilitiesMaintain professional competence and pursue continuous improvement through professional learning and other growth opportunities.Maintain appropriate student confidentiality and professional standards.Collaborate professionally with colleagues, administrators, support staff, and families.Supervise student teachers and classroom aides when assigned.Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned. Terms of Employment10-month employee. Salary to be determined by the negotiated agreement with the Board of Education. Salary Range & Benefits Salary Range: $69,630 (minimum) to $103,470 (maximum)commensurate with experience and in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.North Plainfield offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package such as health, vision, and dental.
