Job Title: Special Education Teacher ACHIEVE Program
Location: South Boston, VA 24592
Schedule: Full-time, school-based
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Rate: Starting at $37/hour (dependent on experience)
Position Overview
Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Special Education Teacher to support students in an ACHIEVE Program serving elementary-aged students in South Boston, Virginia.

This self-contained academic program provides specialized instruction and targeted support for students requiring additional academic interventions. The classroom serves up to 10 students and incorporates both self-contained and pull-out instructional models to help students achieve academic growth and success.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals.

  • Deliver specialized academic instruction in reading, writing, math, and other core content areas.

  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction to address student learning needs.

  • Utilize data-driven instructional practices and progress monitoring.

  • Implement positive behavior supports and classroom management strategies.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families.

  • Maintain compliance documentation and student records.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, staff trainings, and multidisciplinary planning sessions.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required.

  • Active Virginia Special Education teaching license or eligibility to obtain licensure.

  • Experience working with students with learning disabilities and academic intervention programs preferred.

  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to create engaging and differentiated instructional experiences.
Work Environment

  • Elementary school setting (K 5).

  • Self-contained and pull-out instructional model.

  • Small classroom environment with a maximum of 10 students.

  • Supportive team atmosphere focused on student growth and achievement.
