Liberty Corner Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team on a tenure track basis. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. This full-time position requires a dynamic educator who can develop individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborate with parents and staff, and implement effective teaching strategies to promote student success.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
Provide direct instruction and support to students with varying levels of special needs in both inclusive and self-contained classroom settings.
Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning and development.
Assess students' progress and adapt instructional methods to meet individual needs.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies for support at home.
Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and IEP documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and self-advocacy.
Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities within the school community and beyond.
Collaborate with external agencies and community resources to support students and families.
Requirements
Valid state certification in Special Education.
Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is preferred.
Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies tailored to individual student needs.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing IEP documentation and student records.
Commitment to professional growth and development in the field of special education.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
