Position Overview
Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and experienced
Special Education Teacher to support students in a
K 5 school setting in Walkertown, North Carolina.
This is a full-time, in-person opportunity for a licensed Exceptional Children (EC) teacher who is available to begin during the
current 2026 2027 school year.
The ideal candidate will have experience providing resource services, managing IEP responsibilities, collaborating with general education teachers, and supporting students with diverse learning needs across multiple grade levels.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialized resource instruction to elementary students with disabilities.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Manage IEP-related responsibilities, including documentation, progress monitoring, and compliance.
Collaborate closely with general education teachers to support students in the classroom.
Provide differentiated and individualized instruction based on student needs.
Support students across multiple grade levels from Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
Monitor student academic progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, team meetings, and professional development.
Collaborate with school administrators, related service providers, and other members of the educational team.
Maintain accurate student records and documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment that promotes student achievement and independence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Exceptional Children Education, or a related field required.
Active North Carolina Special Education/Exceptional Children teaching license required or eligibility to obtain.
Experience providing resource services preferred.
Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
Knowledge of IEP development, special education regulations, differentiated instruction, and progress monitoring.
Strong communication, organization, classroom management, and collaboration skills.
Ability to effectively support students across multiple grade levels.
Work Environment
