As a K-5 school-based Special Education Teacher (LBS1) in Illinois, your days will include:

  • Provide specialized instruction and academic support to students in a resource setting.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student needs and goals.

  • Adapt and differentiate curriculum and instructional strategies to support diverse learning needs.

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation related to IEP goals and services.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, parents, and school staff to support student success.

  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning and decision-making.

  • Maintain compliance with federal (IDEA), state, and district special education regulations.

Job Details

  • Position: Contract in a school setting

  • Dates: ASAP – June 2027

  • Hours: Part-time, approximately 16–20 hours per week (exact hours being confirmed)

  • Grade Levels: Kindergarten–5th Grade

  • Classroom Type: Resource

  • Interview: Virtual; interviews available within 24–48 hours

  • Work Setting: On-site

Successful Candidates Possess

  • A valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) (required)

  • A valid Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement (required)

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • The ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning needs

  • The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
