Job Title: Middle School Special Education Teacher Location: Winder, GA 30680 Schedule: Full-time, school-based opportunity Employment Type: Contract Position Overview Birch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in a self-contained behavior support and therapeutic support classroom setting in Winder, Georgia.
This opportunity is ideal for an educator who is passionate about supporting students with behavioral, emotional, and academic needs while creating a structured, supportive, and therapeutic learning environment.
The Special Education Teacher will provide individualized instruction, implement behavior support strategies, collaborate with school teams, and help students develop academic, social, and functional skills necessary for success. Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs and educational goals.
Provide specialized instruction in a self-contained middle school behavior support/therapeutic support setting.
Create and maintain a structured classroom environment focused on student growth and success.
Implement positive behavior supports, classroom management strategies, and individualized interventions.
Support students with emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges through consistent routines and individualized instruction.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
Collaborate with administrators, general education teachers, related service providers, and support staff.
Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and multidisciplinary planning sessions.
Adapt curriculum, materials, and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
Build positive relationships with students while promoting independence, self-regulation, and academic achievement.
Communicate effectively with families and educational team members regarding student progress and needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Special Education or related field preferred.
Active Georgia Special Education teaching certification required (or ability to obtain).
Experience working with middle school students preferred.
Experience supporting students with behavioral, emotional, or therapeutic needs preferred.
Strong classroom management and de-escalation skills.
Knowledge of IEP development, behavior supports, and special education compliance.
Ability to create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
