SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Special Education, the testing teacher consultant will assist in assessing/evaluating students for special education eligibility and assist in determining what issues are affecting the students' learning. The teacher consultant will work closely with local district teachers, administrators, and related service staff to develop Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students who qualify for special education. The teacher consultant for testing will also assist in identifying academic targets for students and what supports students need to be successful academically.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate an understanding of current federal and state laws, and rules regarding child find, evaluation, eligibility, Least Restrictive Environment (LRE), Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a master's degree in special education.
Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with a special education endorsement. (LD preferred).
Possess full approval or qualify for full approval as a Teacher Consultant in Michigan.
Completed a minimum of three years of satisfactory teaching experience, not less than two years of which shall be in teaching students with a disability in a special education classroom.
EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated ability working with a wide age range of children and young adults.
Demonstrated instructional consultation skills including outstanding organization and communication.
Evidence of the ability to work with a wide variety of parents, professional staff and non-professional staff.
Previous experience in Collaborative Evaluation Teams.
