Special Education Tutor - Thoreau Elementary School
Thoreau Elementary School is seeking a caring, collaborative, and flexible Special Education Tutor (ESP) to join our dedicated team of educators. This position primarily provides in-class support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) within the general education setting, working alongside classroom teachers and special education teachers to ensure students have access to high-quality instruction and meaningful participation in all aspects of the school day.
The successful candidate will be a strong team player who values collaboration and believes in inclusive practices. This individual will work closely with general education teachers, special educators, related service providers, and administrators to support students'' academic, social, and behavioral success.
A strong understanding of IEPs and the ability to implement accommodations, modifications, and specialized instructional strategies is essential. The tutor will support students in literacy, mathematics, executive functioning, and social-emotional learning while fostering independence and confidence.

Essential Responsibilities:
Provide in-class academic support to students with IEPs within general education classrooms Implement accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies outlined in students'' IEPs Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, special educators, specialists, and administrators Support students'' academic, behavioral, organizational, and social-emotional growth Monitor student progress and communicate observations with the educational team Foster student independence while promoting a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and reliable attendance
Qualifications:
Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably students with disabilities Knowledge of inclusive instructional practices and IEP implementation Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills Associate''s or Bachelor''s degree preferred
Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Wednesday: 8:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
