Description

Our Client, an Automotive company, is looking for a Special Exceptions – Eng for their Portland, OR/Hybrid location.
 
Responsibilities:

  • The resource shall support MDC in the following areas under Task Manager direction:
  • Vehicle Build Coordination (47V, 47F, and additional programs as assigned)
  • Maintain vehicle build timelines and communicate schedule changes to stakeholders
  • Track parts, BOM, and Spec status including CWO tracking; produce weekly status reports on missing or at-risk parts
  • Coordinate POD workshops: scheduling, participant confirmation, material preparation, and post-workshop documentation
  • Log and track shopcalls and build issues; maintain status updates and follow escalation paths
  • Support build readiness reviews and Go/Go-Later decision gates
  • Digital and Physical POD Coordination
  • Own coordination of Physical POD sessions: scheduling, stakeholder alignment, and documentation of findings
  • Facilitate Physical POD Workshops including Setup, Introductions, Tech Role Assignments, Issue Documentation and Review, Audio/Video and Recordings Management
  • Support the connection between digital findings and physical build planning
  • Support coordination of Digital POD sessions with DTICI: scheduling, stakeholder alignment, and documentation of findings
  • Track and distribute outputs from POD reviews
  • Maintain issue logs from validation activities and ensure ownership is assigned and tracked
  • General Coordination Support:
  • POD facilitation and documentation for shop calls, program reviews, and planning sessions
  • Weekly consolidated report covering risks, open shopcalls, and action items
  • Dashboard data upkeep and maintenance (Power BI inputs, visual management displays)
  • Client-Furnished Resources
  • On-site workspace and facility badge at Corp 17
  • Access to IT systems (Microsoft Teams, Power BI, SharePoint, network drives)
  • Access to engineering systems as needed (Teamcenter for BOM reference, view-only)
  • Existing process documentation and templates
  • Introductions to cross-functional stakeholders
 
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of planning and coordination experience in a technical environment
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple work streams and competing priorities
  • Confident presenting to and facilitating large groups (30–80+ participants) including technicians, engineers, managers, and senior leadership — must be comfortable commanding a room and keeping discussions on track
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to hold participants accountable, redirect conversations, and manage difficult personalities without escalating tension
  • Personable and approachable; able to build rapport quickly across functions and levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Apps (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint), including setting up channels and SharePoint sites
  • Experience with project management, workshop planning, and cross-functional team coordination — particularly across functions such as Quality, Aftermarket, and Manufacturing Engineering
  • OEM or manufacturing environment experience is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience working with client is a plus
  • Power BI or equivalent data visualization experience preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with Jira or a similar project management/ticketing tool (Kanban, Scrum, DevOps) preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with cab-over or conventional truck configurations (e.g., spinning cab) is helpful but not required
  • Preferred:
  • Manufacturing, automotive, or heavy vehicle industry background
  • Experience with product development processes (sample builds, design reviews, milestone gates)
  • Familiarity with BOM management or parts tracking
  • Power BI or data visualization experience
  • Jira or similar Project Management tool (Kanban, Scrum, DevOps) experience
  • Experience in a preseries or prototype build environment
