Reno, NV | Full-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt) | $20–$25/hour DOE + Overtime

The Opportunity

A well-established Reno-based consulting engineering firm is seeking motivated individuals to join its Special Inspection and Construction Materials Testing team.

Certifications are NOT required to apply. We are open to candidates who have construction, field, inspection, or materials testing experience and are willing and able to obtain the required certifications.

What You'll Do

• Perform field inspections and construction materials testing under appropriate supervision and certification requirements.
• Observe construction activities for compliance with project plans and specifications.
• Assist with testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
• Document field observations and prepare clear, accurate daily reports.
• Sample, handle, and transport construction materials as required.
• Work on active commercial and civil construction sites throughout the Reno area.
• Communicate professionally with contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients.
• Study for and obtain applicable industry certifications.
• Follow established safety procedures and testing standards.

What We're Looking For

• Construction, inspection, materials testing, or related field experience preferred.
• No current certifications required.
• Willingness and ability to study for, take, and successfully complete required certification exams.
• Existing NAQTC, ACI, ICC, or other applicable certifications are a plus.
• Comfortable working outdoors and on active construction sites.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, and occasional night work as projects require.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document field activities.
• Dependable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn.

Certification & Growth Opportunity

Candidates who are not currently certified will have the opportunity to work toward industry certifications such as NAQTC, ACI, ICC, and other applicable inspection/testing credentials.

The company supports continued professional development, and earning additional certifications can lead to increased responsibilities, advancement, and higher compensation.

Schedule & Overtime

This position may work 5–6 days per week, depending on project demand. Overtime is paid at time-and-a-half for hours worked over 40.

Candidates should be comfortable with early mornings, occasional night pours, weekends, and changing project schedules.

Compensation

$20–$25/hour DOE + Overtime at 1.5x

Starting pay will depend on construction experience, inspection/testing experience, and existing certifications.
