The Special Needs Child Care Leader works directly with all children in out-of-school time programs, providing specialized support to address social-emotional, health and safety, and behavioral needs. This role involves collaborating with Site Supervisors, Out-of-School Time Site Support Specialists, and the Inclusion Coordinator to implement inclusion modifications and accommodations while supporting individual student needs. The FT or PT position requires floating between sites as needed and backing up Site Supervisors when unavailable.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Planning and leading activities and games for students with a focus on inclusion.
  • Leading inclusion-based initiatives. 
  • Taking attendance and communicating with parents during drop-off and pick-up. 
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and positive environment for our students.
  • Serving as a coach and mentor for other program staff. 
  • Attending regular staff leadership meetings.
  • Opening and closing the program as needed.

Qualifications:

  • One of the following;
    • High school diploma with 120 hours of relevant training and one year of experience in a related field.
    • Associates Degree with 6 months of experience in education, child care, recreation, special education, or related area.
    • Bachelor's Degree with 3 months of experience in education, child care, recreation, special education, or related area.
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or must be obtained within 90 days of employment).
  • Pass a background check.

Location & Shift Times:

Locations: Placement could be at any or all of the 16 elementary schools. 

  • Full-Time Hours:
    • Averages 32-35 hours/week, with some weeks higher than others
    • School Days:
      • 6:15-9:30 & 2:30-6:00 (6.25 hours) OR 6:15-9:30 & 2:00-6:00 (6.75 hours) PLUS Leadership Team Meeting (1.5-1.75 hours 1-3x/month – usually Tuesdays 9:45-11:15) AND an evening meeting usually 1x/month on Thursdays from 6-7:15 pm.
    • Non-School Days & Summer: Regular workday.  Can request to be scheduled up to an 8-hour straight shift or may work a split shift.
  • Part-Time Hours
    • School Days
      • Before school: 6:15-9:30 (3.25 hours), OR After school: 2:30-6:00 (3.5 hours) OR 2:00-6:00 (4.0 hours)
      • PLUS Leadership Team Meeting (1.5-1.75 hours 1-3x/month – usually Tuesdays 9:45-11:15) – if available - AND an evening meeting usually 1x/month on Thursdays from 6-7:15 pm.
      • Non-School Days & Summer: Regular workday.  Can request to be scheduled up to an 8-hour straight shift or may work a split shift.
