Special Packaging

Job Summary:  Package rugs for special orders according to customer’s specifications. Re-work rugs that have been packaged or are incorrect. Helps the shipping department as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1)     Labels and or re-labels rugs.

2)     Bags and or un-bags rugs.

3)     Fills special order boxes and cages.

4)     Packages rugs according to specific specifications.

5)     Helps out shippers when needed (filling trucks etc.).

6)     Build pallets/display boxes/display cages.

7)     Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

1)     Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team.

2)     Ability to get along with teammates.

3)     Ability to come to work for each scheduled shift.

Education and Experience:

1)     None required

Physical Requirements

1)     Continuous standing and walking.

2)     Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines and inspect product.

3)     Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

1)     Lift:  (Continuously) from floor up to 6’.

2)     Carry:  (Occasional) moving rugs or materials from one spot to another.

3)     Handgrip: (Continuous) to move, bag or hold rugs, cut, and staple wood and boxes.

4)     Forward Bending/ Reaching While Standing:  (Frequently) to move and align rugs in cages and to pick up rugs from floor or pallets and or cages.

5)     Standing/Walking:  (Continuous)

6)     Vision:  (Continuous) to tell the difference between the yarn colors. To inspect the rug and the border. To walk and navigate pathways.

Worksite Weights and Measurements:

1)     Rugs ranging in weight from 1lb to 75 lbs.

2)     Bagging station height: 3’to 4’high.

Potential Job Hazards:

1)     Sliding miter saw:

a)      Serious cuts or amputation of fingers or hands.

b)     Sawdust in eyes.

2)     Pneumatic stapler:

a)      A staple in hand or foot.

b)     Accidental discharge.

3)     Scissors:

a)      Cutting or stabbing self in fingers or hand.

4)     Utility knife:

a)       Cutting or stabbing self in fingers or hand.

Personal Protective Equipment:

1)     Safety glasses when using saw or stapler –required.

2)     Cut-proof glove on non-dominant hand when using utility knife –recommended.
