The Special Procedures Technologist performs invasive procedures partnered with the interventional radiologist. Responsible for patient assessment education pre and post procedure and safe care and monitoring of patient during the procedure. Responsible for safe administration of radiation contrast dosing and image processing. The responsibilities will include but not limited to:
• Maintaining and operating the specialized vascular C-arm equipment to capture the correct area and produce clear images • Applying and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of radiation protection and safety practices • Maintaining regulatory required documentation during and after the procedure • Helping to prepare and position the patient for procedures

The Special Procedures Technologist performs invasive procedures partnered with the interventional radiologist. Minimum Training and Education
Graduate from an accredited school of radiologic technology and minimum 1 year of experience in interventional radiology preferred and/or graduate of an advanced IR program. Must be able to produce very high quality special imaging with little supervision. Must be able to function effectively in a team-oriented environment. Must be familiar with age-specific criteria.
Required Licensure Certifications Registrations
Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or AHA recognized equivalent. Proactively maintains and renews ARRT state license, BLS PPD respirator fit test, and POC training.

Infrequent ability to maintain 20/40 vision corrected in one eye or with both eyes. Continuous ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. Continuous ability to match or discriminate between colors. Continuous selected positions ability to determine distance, relationship between objects, depth perception. Continuous ability to maintain hearing acuity with correction. Continuous ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. Continuous ability to work in a latex-safe environment. Continuous ability to maintain tactile sensory functions. Frequent selected positions ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function. Frequent selected positions ability to be qualified physically for respirator use initially and as required.
Additional Job Description
Education: Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Work Experience: 0-2 years of modality-specific experience required. Current registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). ARRT registration in interventional radiology required within 1 year in position. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or AHA recognized equivalent. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
