SPECIAL PROCESS COORDINATOR

Oberg Industries is looking for a Special Process Coordinator to become a key link between our manufacturing operations, suppliers, purchasing, quality, and production planning teams. In this role, youll coordinate critical outside processing and special processes that are essential to producing high-precision components for demanding industries such as aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, and other advanced manufacturing markets. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY IMPACT:

Build & Manage Supplier Relationships

• Serve as a primary point of contact for outside processing suppliers and subcontractors.
• Develop strong, professional relationships with suppliers through consistent communication, follow-up, and problem-solving.
• Understand supplier capabilities, capacity, lead times, strengths, and limitations.
• Work with suppliers to resolve scheduling, quality, documentation, and processing issues.
• Visit supplier facilities as needed to evaluate capabilities, processes, quality, and capacity.
• Support the qualification and development of new outside processing suppliers.

Coordinate the Manufacturing Supply Chain

• Coordinate outsourced manufacturing and special processing from purchase order through completion and return to Oberg.
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure outside processing supports production schedules and customer requirements.
• Determine the best supplier for each job based on capability, capacity, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
• Monitor supplier lead times and proactively identify potential delays before they impact production.
• Communicate supplier status, delivery risks, and issues during production meetings.
• Help keep jobs moving when priorities change or unexpected problems arise.

Manage ERP, Purchasing & Documentation

• Use ERP systems to create, track, and maintain accurate supplier and order information.
• Create and manage RFQs, purchase orders, subcontract orders, receiving records, certifications, and supplier documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of supplier performance, processing requirements, lead times, and certifications.
• Coordinate incoming inspection of externally processed materials before they return to production.
• Use data and ERP information to help support production planning, scheduling, and supplier performance management.

Support Supplier Quality & Performance

• Monitor supplier performance including On-Time Delivery (OTD), quality, lead time, and PPM.
• Partner with Quality and suppliers to resolve nonconformances and processing issues.
• Issue and follow up on Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) when needed.
• Help identify opportunities to improve supplier performance, reduce lead times, and strengthen the outside processing network.

SPECIAL PROCESS EXPERTISE:

You dont need to know everything on day one-but you should be comfortable learning and working with technical manufacturing processes. Youll work with suppliers and internal technical teams to ensure processing requirements are clearly understood and completed to specification.

The Special Process Coordinator will develop and maintain knowledge of processes such as:

• Anodizing
• Chromate conversion coatings
• Vacuum coatings
• Heat treatment
• Non-destructive testing (NDT)
• Plating and other specialized finishing processes

Were especially interested in candidates who have:

• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, procurement, production planning, supplier coordination, or a related field.
• Experience working directly with suppliers, vendors, subcontractors, or outside processors.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Experience using an ERP system such as Infor, SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, suppliers, and deadlines.
• The ability to communicate professionally with both suppliers and internal manufacturing teams.
• Strong follow-through. You dont let an open issue or delayed order fall through the cracks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• The ability to understand technical requirements, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
• A willingness to learn specialized manufacturing processes and become a subject-matter expert in outside processing.
• A valid drivers license and the ability to travel locally to supplier facilities.

EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE:

• Experience with special processes, outside processing, subcontract manufacturing, or supplier management.
• Aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, or other high-precision manufacturing experience.
• Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, or similar quality systems.
• Knowledge of MIL or AMS specifications related to coatings, finishes, or heat treatment.
• Experience monitoring supplier OTD, PPM, quality, lead time, or corrective actions.
• Experience with RFQs, purchasing, expediting, supplier negotiations, or subcontract purchasing.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, specifications, or manufacturing requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is an on-site position at Oberg Industries. The role is primarily office-based but regularly requires movement throughout the manufacturing facility and occasional local travel to supplier locations. Employees must be able to safely enter manufacturing environments and wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise meet applicable U.S. export-control requirements.
• Must be able to comply with Oberg safety, security, and workplace policies.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
