Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor s Degree in Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or related field. A minimum of three years of comprehensive environmental agency experience to include supervisory experience in critical projects, program planning and development is required. Additional administrative experience in a comprehensive environmental agency in critical projects, program planning and development may substitute for the required college education on a year for year basis

Recruitment Notes

This is a professional technical position responsible for supervising, implementing, and conducting scientific investigations into surface water and groundwater quality, and assisting section and division leadership in identifying and addressing potential sources of pollution throughout the County.

This position supervises professional technical staff and contractors, assists in the review of work products, and supports the development of proposals, as well as the implementation and administration of grant-funded and other special project initiatives. The incumbent conducts regulatory reviews as needed, reviews plans related to stormwater and wastewater management, coordinates with County and external agencies responsible for stormwater and wastewater management, and coordinates with various stakeholder groups, including academia, non-governmental organizations, and local, state, and federal agencies. The data, reports, and conclusions from these scientific studies will guide the implementation of projects designed to protect and restore water resources, water quality, and habitats of Biscayne Bay and its watershed and thus, will support policy development to ensure the County's regulatory programs, conservation and restoration efforts, resilience initiatives, land acquisition, and legislative policies adequately protect the water resources of this County.
